Tulum’s Communal ‘Closer’ concept debuts on the sands of the “Papaya Playa Project”
Ever since The BPM Festival departed for the shores of Portugal, Tulum’s white sand beaches and its robust community of artists and musicians who call the area home during the rest of the hemisphere’s winter months, screamed for a new event; one with the musical focus its lush surroundings beg for. Enter Closer, a communal project for the creative community, connecting nature with the urban spirit at its 10 January Beach Club premier.
Run by the New York tribe Caravane Gitane, in association locally by Zapotec Death Poets, Closer brings an out of the ordinary lineup of artists taking sound and experience to the utmost level of consciousness.
The event brings (in alphabetical object) Concret’s research based approach to sound. Also on the bill is Hallucienda’s purveyor of psychedelia DJ Three, Life & Death’s cowboys from paradise Marvin & Guy, Papaya Playa Project’s resident extraordinaire Nour, as well as the high priestess of hallucination Öona Dahl. Rounding out the bill is a very special live performance from Telefon Tel Aviv, local hero Tyu, and a sunrise set from a very special surprise guest.
If you decide to find yourself in Tulum on January 10 make sure to head out to its favorite beach spot Papaya Playa Project, the worldwide epicenter for DJs and performing artists and Mayan Full Moon rituals.
