Tulum’s “Boa Beach Club” closed down by PROFEPA

Tulum, Quintana Roo, January 10.- Inspectors of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (PROFEPA) conducted an environmental impactinspection to verify the closure of the works carried out in the property known as “Boa Beach Club” “, located inside the Natural Protected Area (Area Nacional Protegida) Tulum National Park.

In a statement, it was reported that the staff of the federal agency found, on January 5, that they are complying with current environmental legislation, finding that there have been no changes and the closure seals imposed on  December 29, 2018 are still intact.

It was indicated that during the last stage, which was carried out on January 5, it was observed that there has been no modification in the pyramidal structure that occupies an area of ​​8,612 square meters, made with bamboo sticks in a triangular shape tied with sisal rope and buried in the sandy substrate supported by rocky material of the region.

In the same way, a solarium made of hardwood from the region; as well as several wooden objects that serve as ornaments, a tripod made of bamboo; in addition to 5 wooden tables.

Profepa stressed that, at the time of the inspection on January 1oth, no personnel were observed carrying out works or activities within the project, and the site is exactly in the same conditions as those observed during the inspection of December 29, 2018.

PROFEPA inspectors indicated that the closure seals were found intact on top of the structures where they had been placed and in good condition, a situation that indicates that the imposed security measure is being respected.
