On Monday July 9, the Navy Secretariat of Mexico (Semar) reported that personnel assigned to the Fifth Naval Region provided support to a yacht-type vessel with five crew members on board, which was drifting 35 nautical miles northwest of Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, because the boat’s engine broke down and it was left without propulsion.

In a statement, the Secretariat said that the rescue was carried out, after receiving a call from the Command and Control Center of Semar, which warned that the vessel named “XTUP” had run out of propulsion, so that a Defender-class vessel undertook the search for the ship.

When they were located, Naval Health personnel proceeded to provide first aid to the five crew members, who were in good health.
