Tourism in Isla Mujeres at 80%

Tourism in Isla Mujeres between those of internship or overnight stay is 80%, said José Manuel Ancona, president of the Cooperativa Adolfo López Mateo.

He said that so far this year tourism has maintained a constant influx, except for the days that the port was closed, which translates in losses for the local economy.

Ancona said that although there is a fear that tourism will decrease in the island due to the “travel warnings” issued by the United States Department of State, so far, no negative impact has been suffered in Isla Mujeres particularly and the president of the Cooperativa says that he really hopes that Isla stays that way, during sprinbreak, “Semana Santa” and Easter Week holiday season.
