Tour Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and explore ancient Maya culture

The archaeological sites of the Maya World are being promoted among American “Culture Tourism” enthusiasts in the state of California, through the Los Angeles Times

Discover the history and culture of the Maya on an in-depth 14-day tour of Mexico that traverses the Yucatan Peninsula.

The excursion, offered by Archaeological Tours and led by William Saturno, an archaeologist and Maya scholar, begins in Cancun with a visit to the Museo Maya de Cancún and its collections of Yucatan artifacts.

From there participants will explore the ruins of Ek’ Balam, Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Kabah and Calakmul, near the Guatemalan border, which contains the Yucatan’s tallest pyramid.

Other highlights include a cruise on the Usumacinta River to reach the ancient city of Yaxchilan and a visit to the ceremonial center of Palenque, in the Mexican state of Chiapas.
