The Riviera Maya pays tribute to French gastronomy
The restaurant Piaf of the Grand Velas Riviera Maya resort was one of the French restaurants in Mexico that participated in the great international event “Goût de France / Goods of France”, initiative proposed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and world-famous chef Alain Ducasse, which aims to raise awareness of the best of French gastronomy and wines worldwide.
According to a statement, with the beginning of spring, around 2 thousand chefs around the world created a special menu. In 2017, more than 2,100 restaurants from 150 countries collaborated, with 250,000 dishes and more than eight thousand guests in 156 embassies.
54 restaurants in 15 states of Mexico that took part in this great event, and the country was ranked among the top 10 in the world with greater participation.

Goût de France pays tribute to the excellence of French cuisine and its capacity for innovation. As part of the 2018 edition, the restaurants were invited to prepare a menu that complies with the following sequence:

- Wines
- Champagne

This great celebration unifies chefs around the world. From French bistros to international world-class restaurants and participating cooking schools, that offered a menu inspired by French cuisine.
Piaf’s initiative in Mexico is widely recognized as a promoter of French gastronomy, which is in charge of chef Mario Soto and the Culinary Director of Velas Resorts, the renowned chef Michel Mustière who holds the title of Maître Cuisinier de France.
Piaf is one of the 10 restaurants that have participated for four consecutive years; It is also a space inspired by the talented actress and singer Edith Piaf. It is finely decorated with Swarovski crystal curtains, crystal chandeliers, candle light, roses and red velvet.
