The largest cruise ship in the world will docks in Cozumel

For this year, five shipping companies have already announced that they will include in their Caribbean routes the same number of ocean liners recently put into operation to make a stopover in Cozumel.

Among these is the Symphony of the Seas, operated by the Royal Caribbean International (RCI), considered to be the largest cruise ship in the world with capacity to transport 6,360 passengers, and featuring 2,759 cabins within its 362 meters of length, surpassing its brother, Harmony of the Seas, by just one meter.

The government of the state of Quintana Roo highlights in social networks that the state received in 2017, about 17 million tourists. According to data from the Integral Port Administration of Quintana Roo (APIGROO), the Island of the Swallows contributed with 4,103,787, that entered the national territory by sea; that is, approximately 24% of the total figure.

Website “”, which specializes in news of the cruise industry, announced since October 2017 the presence of these ocean liners on the Caribbean route.

The five cruises that will arrive in the period of November of this year through March 2019 are the Symphony of the Seas, floating hotel, that already sails in the seas of the European continent and that due to its size is expected to use the International Terminal of Cruises SSA Mexico.

This pier located south of Cozumel is the only one capable of docking last generation cruises.

Symphony of the Seas has a height of 72 meters that communicates its decks with 24 elevators. And 2,200 people work in this floating village.

Celebrity Edge is expected to go into operation by December of this year with capacity for 2,918 passengers and 1,320 crew. Reservations for trips to the Caribbean are now available.

The Carnival Cruise Line, a company that provides 70% of the ships that arrive at Cozumel throughout the year, will also program the Carnival Horizon with space for 4,683 guests and 1,450 crew members.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Bliss of the shipping company Norwegian Cruise Line welcomes 4,004 tourists and 1,716 workers. It is the third transatlantic of the Breakaway Plus class created by this shipping company.

Among its attractions is a 304-meter track for electric racing cars on two levels, which when operated with electric power will not disturb the occupants of the cabins when they are used. The cars will travel at a speed of up to 48 kilometers per hour.
