Riviera Maya, safe to vacation according to the US State Departament
The Director of Tourism in Solidaridad, Rocío Ocampo Colmenares, reported that the recent recommendations issued by the US State Departament, to extreme precautions when vacationing in Mexico, do not affect the Riviera Maya since the recommendations were for the States of the north of the country.
“The statement that came out these days, talked about Cancun as a safe place where travelers can spend their holidays, the only recommendation is to be careful especially in the northern states, fortunately the southeast region was not reported as dangerous”.
She acknowledged that there was a slight decline in US tourism this summer holiday season, but she said this is normal in this summer period, when national tourism predominates.
