Relatives of the 43 of Ayotzinapa face police near Los Pinos

On April 24, relatives of the 43 disappeared normalistas of Ayotzinapa confronted police officers in the neighborhood of Chapultepec, near the Official Presidential Residence of Los Pinos, in Mexico City.

The parents of the normalistas and members of social organizations demonstrated again after 43 months of the disappearance of the students, in order to request a provate conference with President Enrique Peña Nieto.

The demonstration started in the Agustín Pro Human Rights Center and finished in Calzada Chivatito, just a few hundred meters away from Los Pinos, where they were received by police agents of the Public Security Secretariat of Mexico City, who were clocking the entrance to the Presidential Residence.

In the place the protesters held a rally, where the members spray painted the wall that divides Chivatito with the Bosque de Chapultepec.

They also carried signs with the legends “Vivos los queremos” (We want them alive), and “43 months without a response from the federal government.”

After the rally, some protesters threw fireworks against the police barricade, with no injuries reported.

Before the demonstrators arrived to the to Los Pinos, police officers placed metal fences to prevent them of entering the premises.
