Quintana Roo participated in the Berlin Tourism Fair (ITB)
A delegation from Quintana Roo headed by the State Secretariat of Tourism (Sedetur) participated in the Berlin Tourism Fair (ITB) from March 8 to March 12, 2017.
At this important international event, the new attractions of the southeastern Mexican state were highlighted for the first time, in addition to the promotion of the traditional tourism offer integrated by Cancun and Riviera Maya.

The head of Sedetur, Marisol Vanegas Pérez, stressed that the archeological circuits, “Guerra de Castas”, “Costa Maya” and “Cultural de Mundo Maya”, which were introduced in Berlin, are totally prepared for the European tourism market.
“ITB was a great experience for us, we carried out activities with our counterparts from Germany and other countries, we got to know the offers of allies and competitors, we attended workshops and business meetings with good results for our state, and held negotiations to improve the working relations with airlines and wholesalers,” Vanegas said.
Mexico represents Germany’s third most important destination in Latin America, after Brazil and the Dominican Republic, receiving 12.9% of the arrivals of German tourists to the region. During the winter, tourists from Germany visit destinations such as Cancun, Riviera Maya and Mexico City, with an average stay of 17 nights and an expenditure of around 3,000 US dollars per person.
In addition, Sedetur reported that out of the 240,000 Germans who entered Mexico in 2016, 140,000 visited Cancun and Riviera Maya. The German market is currently the sixth in the international tourism ranking for the state of Quintana Roo.
On the last day of activities at ITB, Sedetur presented the documentary “Cozumel, a paradise in the Mayan Caribbean”, material that will be displayed on Evelop’s airplanes during their Madrid-Cancun flights.
