The Mexican Navy (SEMAR) reported that naval personnel assigned to the V Naval Region rescued four people when the waves in the area known as Playa Norte dragged them offshore, with imminent risk of drowning.

The rescued people are all Mexican tourists and they were carrying out recreational water activities in that beach of Isla Mujeres, when the tide pulled them away from the shore.

According to a statement from the federal agency, the rescue occurred when the authority was alerted of the emergency situation, because the tourists were dragged by the strong current that took them more than a hundred meters away from the beach.

Given this situation, Navy offiicers who serve as lifeguards in Isla Mujeres, went to the place to help them, taking them out of the ocean and making sure they were able to get back to their hotels safe and sound, in good health and totally unharmed.
