Number of arrivals increase at Cozumel International Airport

COZUMEL, Q. Roo.- The amount of operations and flow of people registered by the International Airport of Cozumel Island between 2010 and 2017 is on the rise according to statistics, assured the administrator of the air terminal, Jorge Carlos Campos Romero, as the 2017 figures closed with 541,598 passengers while in 2010 the figure was 438,832.

Regarding improvements in the infrastructure of this airport operated by Aeropuertos del Sureste (ASUR), Campos Romero said that there are already projects that will begin in December this year.

Jorge Campos showed statistics from 2010 to the date in which the increase of the airport activity was recorded in this enclosure that currently has an area of ​​10,938 square meters, with a landing strip with a length of 2,700 meters and 45 meters wide.

“This infrastructure allows us to land category D aircrafts, on an “A” to “E” scale, including McDonnell Douglas MD-11, Airbus A300, Boeing 757, Boeing 767 with lengths of 36 to 52 meters”, Campos Romero added.

Regarding the number of flights, he said that the total number of operations in 2017 was 8,602, compared to 2010 when 3,452 were counted, which shows that the tourist destination is still attractive for domestic and foreign tourists alike.
