CANCUN — The new General Hospital “Dr. Jesus Kumate Rodríguez” opened its doors on Friday March 10. This facility, with investment of 1 billion pesos, will create a center of care for patients from 5 municipalities of the State; Benito Juárez, Solidaridad, Isla Mujeres, Tulum and Lázaro Cárdenas.

“It’s a very important date for Quintana Roo; an historic event to inaugurate this modern infrastructure with 180 beds, 5 operating rooms and many services with the quality that our citizens deserve,” emphasized Governor Carlos Joaquin at the inauguration of the new General Hospital of Cancun “Dr. Jesus Kumate Rodríguez”, for the benefit of more than half a million inhabitants.

“After all these years of work and effort, today, this project is a reality, and I am sure that it will increase the attention to our people, aiming at a population of more than half a million inhabitants from Benito Juárez and neighbor municipalities. This space is worthy for users, for doctors, nurses and all of those who will work in it,” he said.

The governor of Quintana Roo, who was accompanied by the undersecretary of Administration and Finance of the federal secretary of health, Marcela Velazco González, and the state secretary of health, Alejandra Aguirre Crespo, cut the inaugural ribbon, unveiled the commemorative plaque of the new Hospital General “Dr. Jesus Kumate Rodríguez “and toured its facilities, which has 180 beds and has 41 offices for external consultation. “It is a great space with a great purpose, because the commitment that my administration has with all the citizens in health matters is unquestionable and emblematic,” emphasized Carlos Joaquin.

At the same time, the Secretary of State for Health, Alejandra Aguirre, said that it is gratifying to see that the largest city in the state and the one with the greatest demand for health services, today has a great advance in health services, “we seek to reduce the inequality in medical care, eliminating as much as possible the risks of transportation, as well as the expenses that are generated for families who, until now, have had to travel to other states to seek that care that they could not have in their locality.”

The new hospital covers an area of 53,792 square meters of land, and has an area of Neonatal Intensive Care, with 13 cribs and 2 isolation rooms; 12 cribs in the Intermediate Care Unit and 2 isolates; 12 cribs in the area of growth and development; 10 beds in the Obstetric and Intensive Care Unit and 2 isolated, 7 beds in the Obstetric Intermediate Care Unit and 1 isolated.
