National Tree Day was celebrated in Isla Mujeres
With several activities, the City Council of Isla Mujeres commemorated the National Tree Day, with the participation of 60 children of the “Inderim 2018” summer school.
Led by Carlos Barranco García, director of Environment and Ecology of this municipality, the children planted 50 sea lilies, 2 icacos and 12 ciricotes in a green area located in front of the “Mar Caribe” perimeter road.
After this activity, the children participated in a recycling workshop with different materials, in which they worked on the painting and trimming of recycled objects with which they made bags and posters, in the palapa of Hacienda Mundaca.

Antonio Coronado Rojas, general secretary of the City Council, who came on behalf of the municipal president, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, thanked the authorities who came together to commemorate this important date and congratulated the 60 children who enthusiastically joined the environmental care activities.
“For the good development of the people, the participation of children is vital, especially in matters that have to do with the care of our environment; Tree Day is a reminder of the importance of protecting wooded areas that provide oxygen, water, food and essential raw materials,” said Coronado Rojas.
Finally, the General Secretary of the City Council gave special recognition to the great work of Barranco García, and pointed out that the man is a great promoter of the care of plants, animals and the ecosystems of Isla Mujeres.
