CANCUN, MX-  Cancun and the Riviera Maya are still the preferred destinations for the Latin American traveler, at least according to PriceTravel, said Pablo Castro, director of Marketing and Public Relations.

“Our company had a record 20 percent growth during 2017, and we are very optimistic about 2018, for the first quarter we are looking at a growth of up to 35 percent compared to the same period last year, which is a great start”, he said.

The objective, he said, will be to work more with business partners, taking into consideration that our main market is the Mexican traveler, followed by Colombians, where economic stability is evident.

He explained that everyone in the online travel booking industry has guided domestic travelers to book earlier since they can get 40 percent off in purchases made 120 days in advance. Previously everyone wanted the same dates to travel, causing congestion and dramatic increases, that is why they suggest to make travel dates more flexible.

“We all need to distribute our holidays a little more throughout the year and book in advance for better deals; part of the strategy with commercial partners is to negotiate rates,” he added.

After Quintana Roo, which is the favorite, he mentioned that some Mexican Pacific destinations are also on the rise, such as Huatulco, Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. Not to mention other international destinations such as Cuba, the Dominican Republic and traditional tourist sites in the United States such as Orlando and Las Vegas.
