Multiple car accident on the Puerto Morelos-Playa del Carmen highway
A multiple car accident occurred on the Puerto Morelos-Playa del Carmen section, specifically at the La Esperanza roundabout, leaving several people injured and extensive material damage.
So far, the identity and exact number of victims involved in this unfortunate event is unknown.
Minutes before noon, multiple calls to the 911 emergency number alerted the authorities to a major accident that took place in that area. Three vehicles were involved in the incident, including a taxi belonging to the Andrés Quintana Roo union.
According to the first reports, it was reported that there were people trapped inside the cars involved, which prompted the prompt arrival of the elements of the Heroic Fire Department. Rescuers provided immediate assistance to the victims trapped in the wrecked vehicles.
Paramedics from the CostaMed company quickly rushed to the scene to provide first aid to the injured. At this time, the precise number of people affected by the accident is unknown.
