Mérida and Riviera Maya among the “Best Destinations” at the Food and Travel Awards

In the fifth edition of the Food and Travel Awards 2018, Quintana Roo and Yucatan are again on the list of nominees in three of the main categories, highlighting the renowned international chef Pedro Evia Puerto to head the shortlist of “Best Chef” competing with other recognized world promoters of Mexican gastronomy.

  • In the category of “Best restaurant in the interior” Merida’s Kuuk restaurant is currently third.
  • Yucatecan Chef Pedro Evia Puerto made the list of Best Chefs in Mexico.
  • In the “Best Hotel Restaurant” category, the Piñuela restaurant made the list also.
  • And in the category of “Best destination” Mérida is first and Riviera Maya fourth.

The editorial board of Food and Travel magazine highlights that the fifth edition of the Food and Travel Reader Awards, has been made possible thanks to the participation of tourists.

Five new categories were included for this fifth year, incluing: Best Airline in America; Best Airline in Asia, Africa and Oceania, and Best Airline in Europe.

Another category that underwent adjustments, in search of satisfying the travelers, is Best Beach Hotel to become two different options: Best Beach Resort and Best Beach Boutique Hotel.

Chef Evia mentioned that the promotion of gastronomic events is very important, because while in the state of Guanajuato they have 146 gastronomy festivals a year, in Yucatán there is only one.
