Isla Mujeres was voted 18th best out of 30 islands in the world: Condé Nast
The island of Isla Mujeres, just off the shores of Cancun, has been rated as one of the best islands in the world by Condé Nast Traveler readers.
More than 300,000 travelers took part in our 30th annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey—setting yet another new record—submitting millions of ratings and more than 100,000 comments to help us create a list of winning favorites, published the Travel magazine.

Located only seven miles off the Yucatán coast and a 20-minute ferry trip from Cancún, Isla Mujeres attracts beach-loving travelers looking for a respite from the area’s high rises. The island is home to a sea turtle hatchery and an underwater “museum” of sunken sculptures, and is known for dive sites friendly to scuba divers of all levels.
Pro tip: Whale sharks frequent the waters of Isla Mujeres from mid-May through September, although peak season is July and August. Research the operators of whale shark tours before booking to ensure your experience is with one that adheres to safety and sustainability standards.
