With the aim of continuing to promote tourism development, the City of Isla Mujeres, headed by the municipal president, Juan Carrillo Soberanis, participated in the 31st edition of the “Cancun Travel Mart Mexico Summit 2018”, which took place from 8 to 10 October in the city of Cancun.

This important event gathered more than 600 suppliers, buyers, authorities of the three levels of government, representatives of different organizations and the tourism and hotel industry in order to carry out marketing and promotion activities.

José Castillo Magaña, general director of Tourism, said that one of the main commitments of the government led by Carrillo Soberanis is to maintain the position of Isla Mujeres as one of the most important tourist destinations in the Mexican Caribbean worldwide.

“We have been participating for several years in this event organized by the Hotel Association of Cancun and Puerto Morelos, which is another opportunity to show the natural beauties, attractions and tourist services that our municipality has to offer,” he said.

He added that, as this is the main business meeting of the tourist sector of Quintana Roo, the participation of Isla Mujeres was very important, because the island not only stands out for its tourist offer, but also for the cleanliness of its beaches and public security.

“In addition to being one of the most beautiful municipalities in the state and having important recognitions such as Magic Town, Blue Flag and White Flag, we are today the safest municipality in the state and we have one of the cleanest beaches in the world, ” he continued.

Proof of this, he said, is that Isla Mujeres has become one of the favorite destinations for national and international tourists, and this summer the number of visitors increased by 25 percent compared to 2017.

“We have fulfilled our commitment not only with tourists, but also with each of the island families that support this economic activity; we will continue working on the tourist offer, on the quality of the service, the cleanliness and safety in our municipality, “he stated.

Castillo Magaña invited businessmen and providers of tourist services of Isla Mujeres to keep up the good work done so far so that the destination continues to stand out in Mexico and the world.

“With political will, at the First Extraordinary Session of the town hall, we endorse our support for the constitutional reforms approved by the local congress @CongresoQRoo, in order to make law enforcement and prosecution stronger, prompt and expeditious.

Finally, Castillo Magaña reaffirmed the commitment of the City Council to increase the tourist promotion of the municipality in the main platforms of the country with the aim of increasing the tourist influx and benefit the economy of the islanders.
