Cancun, Q. Roo.- To commemorate international women’s day through sportsmanship and a healthier lifestyle, the Cancun 5K Color Run and the Cancun half-marathon will take place on March 5 and 6 respectively. The events expect to attract around 2,000 people.

Más Acción, along with the support offered by the Cancun Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Municipal Sports Institute and the Westin Cancun, are coordinating the fourth edition of the Cancun 5K Color Run. The event will begin at 4 p.m. in the Bonampak circuit where thousands of attendees can choose to run or walk during the event. Prizes for winners will consist in stays, day passes and spa treatments at the Westin Cancun hotel.

On Sunday, March 6, the celebrations for International Women’s Day will continue with the first edition of the Cancun half-marathon. This event will begin at 6 a.m. and participants will be allowed to choose between two different races: the 21k and 10k, both supervised by the Mexican federation of athletic associations.

The official start of the half-marathon is scheduled for 7 a.m. at Bonampak Avenue, located by the entrance of the Cancun pier. Race package giveaways will be handed out at the Plaza de la Reforma on Saturday, March 5th between 12 – 7 p.m. Participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt and health services such as water stations, recovery zones, access to doctors, electronic timing chips, and a special medal to celebrate all women.
