PLAYA DEL CARMEN — The life of painter Frida Kahlo arrived on Sunday July 30 at the Frida Kahlo Riviera Maya Museum, located in Playa del Carmen. The Museum opened its doors on the 110th anniversary of the artist’s birth. It shows the life of the artist in an interactive way.

“The museum is the first cultural and artistic space in Playa del Carmen, a destination visited every year by more than 4.5 million tourists from more than 66 countries,” the exhibition center said in a statement. The inauguration happens in the 110th anniversary of the birthday of the artist.

“(The museum) integrates technologies to connect the public with Frida through sensory experiences, interactive displays, projections and other multimedia instruments,” the founders of the museum said in a statement.

The venue, through digital tools, reproduces episodes of the Mexican artist’s life such as the tram accident that she had at her 18th birthday and her bedroom “that was a space for survival, nightmares and creative outbreaks,” according to the founders of Museum.

“We did not evade controversial aspects such as the tortuous love relationship with Diego Rivera and the infidelities that were part of his being and his way of painting,” he said.

In Mexico City, you can also visit the show “Me Pinto a Mi Misma” at the Dolores Olmedo Museum, where 36 works by the artist, including portraits, self-portraits, drawings and photographs that have traveled around the world, are gathered.
