Dust from Sahara desert crossed the Atlantic all the way to the Yucatan peninsula

An increase in the amount of dust from the Sahara desert is expected all over the Yucatan Peninsula during the last days of June.

The announcement was made by Meteorología de Yucatán through its Twitter account.

This phenomenon is known as the Saharan Air Layer (SAL) and can occur at any time of the year.

In Puerto Rico this phenomenon can be seen more clearly as it appears as a haze. According to the news site El Nuevo Día, which reported that this situation will affect people with allergies, however, the dust will decrease in a matter of days.
