The Cruzando Fronteras (Crossing Borders) Festival will be consolidated as one of the most important events of the year, aimed at enhancing the image of Mahahual and southern Quintana Roo, towards new national and international markets.

Luciano Consoli, president of the Association of Hotels, Cabins and Hostels of Mahahual, anticipated that this year, the festival will also feature artists of national and international level, who will undoubtedly be appreciated by the audience.

Consoli said: “as you know we will have artistic performances in the fields of music, painting, writing, and other artistic forms of expression”.

He stated that, as of right now, the organizing committee is focusing on the search for artists as well as to structure a program of activities that will be offered to visitors during the month of May, for the fifth edition of this festival.

The start date of the event will be announced on the first week of March.

Luciano Consoli, said that “Cruzando Fronteras” is a highly anticipated event because it is a product that positions Mahahual as a world-class Tourist Destination, in addition to representing a significant (and much needed) economic spill for local businesses and residents, “the participation of the authorities is also very important for the development of this festival. ”

Then he continued: “In the present year, there are great expectations among the business sector, since there are a number of “long weekends” in the labor calendar, in addition to Springbreak (for the American market), and Holy Week and Easter Week for the domestic market”.

“More than 100 artists from other Mexican states and other countries such as Italy, Germany, Spain (just to mention a few) will be displaying their work. Considering there are more than 2,500 hotel rooms in Chetumal, Bacalar and Mahahual combined, we are talking about a considerable infrastructure”, Consoli added.

Tourism service providers from Mahahual urged municipal authorities to take responsibility and be prepared to provide all the necessary services that tourists demand, not only during “Semana Santa” (Holy Week), but throughout 2017.
