She explained that so far, Mexico went from 4, 772, 000 cruise passengers in 2012, to 7, 256, 000 in 2017, which implied an increase of 52%. For 2018 is expected a growth of between 13% and 15%.

Also, she explained that the Caribbean is the main area of world cruising, with a 40% participation quota and where Mexico, with ports such as Cozumel, is one of the most visited globally.

In 2012, 1,743 vessels arrived at the different Mexican ports and 2,446 last year, a figure that represents a growth of 42.4% according to data from the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine attached to the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT).

Leal stressed that boat tourism has become one of the most requested because of the best rates and promotions offered by different shipping companies, but also because it is one of the most pleasant types of travel today.

It is possible to find rates of less than $ 100 per night on a boat with all the services, lodging, food and places to visit, without having to unpack, coupled with the luxury that cruise ships boast nowadays. Royal Princess Cruises is the perfect example.
