Confrontation between taxi drivers from Bacalar and Chetumal

On May 15 around 2:55 pm, on 13th Avenue and 26th and 28th streets of the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood in Bacalar, taxi drivers from Chetumal and Bacalar argued over the passenger transport service between the two municipalities, forcing representatives of the Infrastructure and Transportation Secretariat (SINTRA) to intervene in order to guarantee the safety of the passengers.

At the place of the argument the police car number 10109, interrogated the driver of the taxi number 67 of Bacalar, who confirmed that personnel of SINTRA had retained the taxi number 423 of Chetumal who was driving passengers to their homes. In addition there were six more taxis from Bacalar at the scene.


The SINTRA delegate, Juan Ramón Tuc Rosado accompanied by César Sánchez aboard a Chevy with license plate nuber USS-132-E, confirmed that they would be responsible for the taxi from Chetumal, while the delegate of the Bacalar union, Ángel Gabriel Vázquez took charge of the passengers who entered the municipality of Chetumal (Othón P. Blanco) aboard the taxi that was coming from Bacalar.
