Chetumal’s mega sculpture to be adapted as SECTUR´s office building

The so-called “mega sculpture” is being turned into offices of the Federal Secretariat of Tourism in Chetumal, the place must be adapted for the transfer of the first workers of this federal government secretariat, and the works are estimated to finish in mid-April.

The mega sculpture has 5 levels and a viewpoint that is reached thanks to a panoramic elevator, it has been said that the top floors will be set up as the office of the Undersecretary of Planning and Development of the Tourism Secretariat.

On Sunday March 3rd, during an interview with local media, the federal tourism secretary, Miguel Torruco, said that initially, the sub secretariat and one general direction will moved to the building.

A group of approximately 10 workers is currently carrying out electricity work in the building, setting up the installation of telecommunications wiring and fiber optics.


The interior of the building is still under remodeling, since the initial project of a Museum was already advanced.

The tower has a spectacular view of the Bahia Boulevard, and according to the statement by SECTUR, the architectural lighting, the opening of the cycle path and the Wi-Fi service will be ready by April this year; Dancing fountains for May, videomapping for June and the opening of the first temporary exhibition is scheduled for July of this year.

The museography project of the “Mestizaje Museum” would be ready by March 2020.
