Cancun’s Playa Delfines awarded ‘Sustainable and Clean Beach’ status

CANCUN — Playa Delfines received from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Government of the Republic (Semarnat) the recognition of Sustainable Clean Beach.

It is the first beach in the whole country that has received this distinction after meeting all the parameters of the certification of beaches that comply with environmental, health, service and safety quality.

The recognition is granted by the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources of the Government of the Republic (Semarnat), and was bestowed by Mariana Boy Tamborrell, General Director of Urban and Tourism Environmental Development of the federal agency.

Playa Delfines receives monthly more than 24 thousand people, which implies a great work to maintain the cleaning, in charge of different brigades that collected more than 12 thousand cubic meters of seaweed.

According to information provided during the delivery ceremony, 38 beaches nationwide have the Sustainable Clean Beach label.

It is also indicated that 5 beaches in the country, including Delfines, have the highest parameters of Rule 120, a designation that lasts 2 years, from 2017 to 2019.

He also said that 2 kilometers is the distance in which there is a certified public beach in Cancun.

Similarly, it was announced 24 thousand people is the average of monthly attendees to Playa Delfines, which has 2 environmental labels, the Blue Flag Flag and White Flag, certified by the NMX-AA-120-SCFI-2006 level 2 , valid from 2017 to 2019.
