Cancún Museum of Contemporary Arts opens its doors

CANCÚN, Q. Roo – “An innovative Museum of Contemporary Arts will be opening its doors in Cancún aiming at the promotion of plastic work created by artist Roberto Díaz Abraham, a founding member and current president of the Underwater Museum MUSA (Cancún Museum of Contemporary Arts)”, announced María Herrera Castillo, CEO and founder of Mandarina Arts Gallery in Cancún.

At the signing of the collaboration agreement that seeks to complement the display of the Cancún Underwater Museum (MUSA), Mrs. Herrera explained: “This museum will be able to exhibit a wide array of pieces by international, national and local artists, providing them the opportunity to showcase their work in this important world-class tourist destination”.

María Herrera who is well-known as a great art promoter in Cancún, underlined: “Among the artistic activities that will be carried out in this space, there will be: workshops, specialized courses, conferences and talks, among other activities”.

“We want to create awareness of the great importance of Roberto Díaz Abraham’s work, who is a prestigious sculptor and ceramist, businessman, and Honorary Consul of Hungary for the state of Quintana Roo and Yucatan, too”, said the art promoter.

Roberto Díaz Abraham was born in Mexico City on May 11, 1951, has worked along with distinguished artists such as Makoto Yabe and Laura Ramírez Leal for more than 33 years, mostly in the high temperature clay technique.
