Bacalar and Chetumal, movie festival venues

The Colectivo Árbol Rojo, the Cineteca Nacional and the Institute for Culture and the Arts of Quintana Roo (ICA) signed a collaboration agreement for the dissemination of the largest film offer ever in Chetumal and Bacalar.

In this way, both cities are considered permanent exhibition venues of the International Film Festival, the International Forum and the Contemporary Mexican Film Week, offering premieres from the Cineteca Nacional projects.

The agreement was signed by the director of the National Cineteca, Alejandro Pelayo; the general director of the Civil Association Colectivo Árbol Rojo, Alejandro Silveira and the director of the ICA, Jacqueline Estrada Peña.

The International Film Festival of the National Cineteca was presented for the first time in Chetumal and Bacalar in its LXII Edition on April last year just when Colectivo Árbol Rojo turned on its first screen.

It aims to bring the most innovative and recent proposals of the cinematographic art to the Mexican public, backed by their recognition in international festivals.

The International Forum of the Cineteca hosts radical and avant-garde proposals of cinematographic art. The films that have integrated each edition are characterized by presenting unconventional formulas.
