50% of the workforce in Cancun are women

“Women in Cancun are the engine of the tourism industry”, said Remberto Estrada Barba, prior to the conference “Amar te sana, amarte sana“, presented by TV show host Fernando del Solar to tourism workers in the tourism and organized by the Municipal System for the Integral Development of the Family-,DIF headed by Mrs. Elvia Estrada de Barba and the Sini Ko ‘ob Foundation.

“Practically half of the labor force in the sector is made up of female workers, many of them heads of family. And this administration has paid special attention to the most vulnerable sectors of society. Cancun women are still being discriminated and her rights are constantly violated”, said mayor of Cancun Remberto Estrada.

He also recognized the work of society and companies as the great allies in improving the conditions of Cancun women, highlighting the role of the Hotel Association, thanking its president, Roberto Cintrón, and all its members , for the support in this matter.

“Municipal DIF has been a fundamental part of actions in health, education, food, sports promotion and others, to ensure the integral development of women and families, and strengthen society”, Remberto Estrada concluded.
