The Office of the Attorney General of the State (Fiscalía General del Estado: FGE) reported the arrest of five heavily armed persons, who are allegedly members of a local organized crime group.

The agency reported that agents of the Ministerial Police captured five men who were found in possession of three long R15 firearms, a pistol, clips, and useful cartridges. Suspects and weapons were placed under custody of the Federal Public Ministry.

The Prosecutor’s Office revealed that the arrest of the suspects was made by Ministerial Police officers, after an operation on Friday November 24 on Tulum Avenue, in downtown Cancun.

Police officers set up an inspection point where they detected the armed people on board a Chevrolet minivan and a Toyota Corolla.

The detainees were identified as Jorge M F. G, Josue SM, Christian GMT Misael M. G and Alberto SR, who were immediately arrested as the weapons were found.

The suspects were taken by members of the Mexican Navy and Ministerial Police Agents to the premises of the local delegation of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), where the corresponding proceedings were carried out.
